“Nata e Dymbëdhjetë”- romantic comedy in Tirana

Directed by Justin Anderson,  the romantic comedy “Nata e Dymbëdhjetë” (inspired by “Twelfth Night”, by William Shakespear), will be staged at “Metropol Theatre” on October 31st at 7 pm.

The events of this comedy, regarded by most scholars as Shakespeare’s best, take place in early Illyria, today’s Albania, and he is believed to have written it around 1601. In the kingdom of Illyria, a nobleman of named Orsino wanders listening to music because he misses the love of Olivia, a beautiful girl whom he cannot have because she is mourning her dead brother and refuses any marriage proposal. Meanwhile, at sea, a terrible storm has caused the sinking of a ship

This beginning event is enough to skillfully interweave many colorful and vivid characters in situations about unrequited love, broken hearts, but also the joy that comes from them in ancient Illyria.

The “Metropol Theater” and the American director Justin Anderson, will bring the work to another time, in Albania of the 1800s, combining authentic elements of the time and place where the events take place, such as in music and costumes.

It’s suggested to reserve your tickets on the number.
